The best way to increase the maximum number of connections is to apply patch that is available at www.lvllord.de. A nice way to fix this is to download this patch .

The little tweak to the torrent client works great in certain times. If you’re using uTorrent go to Options menu then Preferences. In the Preferences go the Advanced Options. In the advanced options change the net.max_halfopen connections to 80. In the same section change the max half open tcp connections to 80. Once your done click on OK and you are all set. This tweak will let the maximum TCP connection available for the bittorrent client. Now start downloading you’ll realize a little difference in the download speed. Port forwarding technique is more effective than this.

A third point of interest is that some “windows updates” revert your tweaked tcp connections back to 10. So it’s wise to check this every now and then. You can check this by going to (in windows xp) Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > System… Look for event 4226 (sort by event).
If there are a lot of daily occurrences it’s likely that the max amount of half-open tcp connections was set back to 10. Or you’re infected with some nasty spy ware…

In order to apply these tips you must know your maximum up- and download speed. You can test your bandwidth over here (stop all download activity while testing).

Multi Google Talk Login without any software

Just follow the simple steps Below:
1) Right click on the Google Talk shortcut.
2) click on Properties.
3) Go to Shortcut tab on Google Talk Properties window.
4) On the Target textbox, add in the /nomutex to the end of the line so that it looks like below (or you can simply copy and paste the below syntax and replace the original).

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

There is a setting located in your windows registry called the Maximum Transfer Unit (MTU). This determines the size of the packets of data sent between your and your server. In Windows 95, this setting is has a value of 1,500 bytes when the actual size of internet packets is 1,000 bytes. This can sometimes slow things down. To remedy the situation, simply follow these steps:
In the registry editor (Start > Run > regedit.exe), navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\NetTrans.

In the NetTrans folder you should find another folder named "000x" in which x represents a fourth digit. Right-click on the "000x" folder and select New and StringValue. Rename the item that appears in the panel on the right side to MaxMTU, then double-click it to bring up the Edit String box and give it a velue of 1002.

Remember to keep playing with the MaxMTU value until you feel that your internet connection has greatly sped up. Some people report huge speed gains using this tricks, while others hardly notice a difference. In any case, it's definetly worth a try.

Make sure that the 'make my programs run faster' is ticked in the 'Settings' window in Defrag.

2. Scandisk: Running a thorough check is good once a month in both Windows 95 and 98. Run this once a month if you feel that your hard disk takes a long time to load programs. A standard check is very fast and checks for basic disk problems concerning files and folders and lost fragments. It takes an average 2 minutes to complete so try running it often.

3. Disk cleanup: This one is good for seeing how much disk space is being used up by unnecessary files that are in the recycle bin, temp folder, or in temporary internet folders. You can then remove them!

4. RegClean: A simple but effective piece of software this is. You can download it for free from Microsoft's web site. It is also available on many magazine cover disks. Reg Clean takes about a minute to check the registry. Then it asks whether you want to clean out redundant or orphan file. This usually helps the computer to get rid of files that have been left behind by uninstalled programs.

5. Windows update: It's a good idea to use Windows Update

to make sure your computer has all the latest fixes, patches and updates. You can do so by clicking on its icon in the Start Menu under Windows 98.

2. Move all the files and folders from the "plugins" directory to the "Optional" directory. (I repeat.. cut and paste the files NOT copy & paste).

Also make sure that acrobat reader is not open else it will lock the files and not allow you to move the files).

Mobile number portability is an SMS away

If you’re dissatisfied with poor service from your current telecom service provider, you don’t need to bear with it anymore. Just dump it and go for another one. And no, you won’t have to change your number every time you switch providers.

Number portability is here, finally.

After a two year delay, Mobile Number Portability (MNP) will be launched in Rohtak, Haryana today. Telecom Ministry officials say that this system is likely to be launched in other parts of the country by the end of December provided the operators are ready with their network.

Market analysts believe that this would lead to another tariff war as telecom operators would like to retain their existing customers.

Aditya Birla Group’s Idea Cellular Network is confident of attracting users once MNP is rolled out.

“Our focus is to provide good network and customer services. Though we are not launching any new plan or tariff package, we are confident that large number of customers who want to have better network would switch to Idea,” the firm’s chief corporate affairs officer Rajat Mukarji told.

So how does MNP work? Well, all you need to do is send an SMS from your phone to 1900. Your present company will reply with a unique porting code. Use that code while filling out a detailed form for the provider you want to shift to. Within 48 hours, that company will take over all your cell services. This may cost you a meagre Rs 19.

Your cell number will be switched off for only one hour. All bills after that are payable to your new provider. Once a subscriber ports his number to the new operator, then, he will have to wait for at least 90 days before he can change his operator again. While you can shift from a GSM service to CDMA or vice versa, you cannot shift from one state to another.

Google bans phone application used in spying

A controversial mobile phone application, which helps a cell phone user read the text messages of others secretly, has been removed from sale by internet search engine Google.

Google said the application, called SMS Secret Replicator, violated its terms, The Independent reported Friday.

Once installed on a mobile phone, the Android phone application automatically creates carbon copies of incoming text messages and forwards them to a selected number - prompting fears it could be used by jealous lovers and even work colleagues to snoop on private messages.

Jealous lovers are encouraged to secretly set up a password-protected application on their partners' phones and set it to forward text messages to their own, the paper said.

"The app is unique because there is no visible icon or shortcut to access it, so once it's installed, it will continue to monitor without revealing itself," the developer DLP Mobile was quoted as saying.

Its chief executive, Zak Tanjeloff, said the application was "certainly controversial but can be helpful to people in relationships where this type of monitoring can be useful".

The app's creators have given it the slogan "nothing is secret". Google confirmed it had suspended the application.

Change Your IP Address In One Minute

Change Your Ip In Less Then 1 Minute

1. Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
2. Click on "Run"
3. Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt
6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
7. Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
13. Hit the "Ok" button here
14. Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"

20. You now have a new IP address

With a little practice, you can easily get this process down to 15 seconds.

P.S:
This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address. If you plan on hacking a website with this trick be extremely careful, because if they try a little, they can trace it back

Facebook was hit by another privacy row after it emerged that millions of pieces of personal information from the site were being shared without users' consent.

Vast quantities of data, including the names of individual members and their online 'friends', were passed to internet ad firms, with tens of millions of people thought to have been affected.

The leaks were possible even when members had deliberately set their privacy options to the maximum secrecy levels, reports the Daily Mail.

The practice violates Facebook's own rules on data protection and will raise questions about the company's ability to keep information about its members' activities secure, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Security experts warned that the details could be used - when combined with other publicly available information - to build up a detailed picture of an individual's interests, friendship circle and lifestyle.

Campaigners condemned what they called a "gross invasion of privacy" and warned users that Facebook was "not a private place".

Around 25 advertising and data firms were receiving the information. It was passed to them by firms whose 'apps' - games and other features - operate on Facebook and not by the social networking site itself.

The Wall Street Journal said the 10 most popular apps on the site were transmitting user IDs to outside companies, including the popular game FarmVille - which has 59 million users - Texas Hold, Em Poker and FrontierVille.
